Helen specialises in commercial litigation. Her practice includes all manner of commercial work, such as contractual disputes, the sale of goods and supply of services, agency, guarantees and wrongful interference with goods. Helen has particular expertise in the application of the Consumer Credit Act 1974. She represents both lenders and borrowers at all stages of litigation in all aspects of consumer credit, such as enforceability of agreements, licensing requirements, and unfair relationships .

Complementing Helen’s commercial practice is her experience in the enforcement field. She has substantial experience in disputed possession proceedings and in obtaining orders for sale. Her recent cases include acting for a national bank in a multi-million pound possession claim and acting for an arm of the Ministry of Justice in enforcing confiscation orders made under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.

The other main area of Helen’s practice is employment law. Helen regularly represents both claimants and respondents and deals with a wide variety of employment matters, such as race and sex discrimination (including maternity), equal pay, TUPE, and unfair and constructive dismissal.

In addition to these areas of practice, Helen acts and advises on a wide range of property matters, having a particular interest in beneficial interest cases, rights of way and adverse possession. She also has a growing insolvency practice, and regularly appears in the County Court and High Court on a wide range of personal and corporate insolvency matters. Helen has particular experience in the setting aside of statutory demands, winding up and bankruptcy.
