John graduated from Jesus College, Oxford, with a first class degree in modern history. He undertook the law conversion course at Birmingham University. He was awarded the Mansfield Scholarship by Lincoln’s Inn.

John undertakes work in relation to both commercial and residential property.

He acts on behalf of landlords and tenants in relation to contentious commercial property disputes such as forfeiture claims, claims for breach of covenant and dilapidations claims.

He acts on behalf of owners of commercial and residential property in relation to real property disputes concerning matters such as title to land, adverse possession, equitable claims over land, restrictive covenants, easements and boundaries.

He has a special interest in disputes in which a constructive trust, a resulting trust or a proprietary estoppel is alleged to have arisen. John also undertakes contentious and non-contentious probate work.

He undertakes work in cases in which the validity of testamentary dispositions are challenged on the grounds of testamentary capacity, want of knowledge and approval, undue influence and fraud.

He also acts for and against personal representatives in actions arising from the administration of an estate, such as actions for removal or substitution of personal representatives, devastavit, breach of trust and breach of fiduciary duty.

He acts on behalf of disappointed beneficiaries and others in relation to professional negligence claims and claims made under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.
