Insolvency law

Rob graduated from Trinity Hall, Cambridge with first class honours and completed his pupillage at St Philips, supervised by Ed Pepperall. As part of his degree, he spent one year studying law at the University of Regensburg, Germany. He is a recipient of the Queen's Mother Scholarship, awarded by Middle Temple.

Rob appears regularly in the High Court and county courts, and has a busy advisory practice covering a wide variety of personal and corporate insolvency matters and commercial disputes, acting for blue-chip companies, small businesses, professionals and individuals.

He has appeared in cases involving preferences, transactions at an undervalue and breaches of directors' duties, and in administration applications. He regularly appears in bankruptcy and winding-up petitions and for applications for the sale of property.

Rob also has a growing advisory practice and in cases led by Lance Ashworth QC and Avtar Khangure QC, he has advised administrators on the creation of Quistclose trusts. He has also advised on the creation and priority of fixed and floating charges.

He has advised on the interpretation of a wide variety of contracts, recently including share sale and purchase agreements, distribution agreements, hire purchase contracts, consumer credit agreements and promissory notes.

Rob has acted for lenders and guarantors in a number of cases concerning the enforcement of personal guarantees. He also advises on matters as varied as partnership disputes, Quistclose trusts and the rights and responsibilities of bailiffs.
